Most load limiters on the market have no safety device. If the microswitch were to break down or not work properly the operator wouldn’t notice and would continue working without the aid of the limiter, with the danger of the winch load limit being exceeded, bringing serious safety risks.

On DANFOS limiters this cannot happen thanks to the DSS safety system which, by means of a special electromechanical device, ensures that the crane motor will stop if the threshold limit is exceeded even if the microswitch is not working properly:
